‘Pancake Day’ consists in binge-eating pancakes (delicious round thin cakes made of flour, butter, milk and eggs) before the start of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting leading to Easter Sunday. Each and every Briton eats pancakes on the day before ‘Ash Wednesday’. Apparently, they aren’t the only ones since the French (Mardi Gras) or even the Spanish (‘Jueves lardero’ -also called ‘Jueves merendero’) celebrate similar festivals. Our EOI’s 2018 Pancake Day was enhanced with the ‘toss a pancake’ game, where we could turn over a pancake by tossing and flipping it. Students’ performances were pretty impressive -‘outstanding’, we’d say. LOL!! Keep on practising!!
We may hold a ‘Pancake Race’ next year.
